Design

SCU Online offers four different themes to choose from, including Default, Classic, Kids, and Teens.  The Classic theme offers a larger font and the Kids and Teens themes change mostly color schemes.

To change designs, click on “Theme” in the “Settings” tab in your main navigation.  Select your desired theme from the four options.  It will automatically save your choice and is indicated by a green outline around the sample screenshot. Click here for detailed instructions and screenshots.

Don’t like the Theme you selected?  No worries – you can change themes as often as you like by following the steps mentioned above.

Order of Accounts

To change the order of your accounts on your main Accounts Overview page, click on “Account Preferences” in the “Settings” tab in the main navigation to the left of the home page. Then, type the number that corresponds with the order they should appear.  For example, if you have three checking accounts, enter “1” next to the checking account you want to appear first, “2” next to the checking account you want to appear second, and so on.  Click “Submit” when finished.  Click here for detailed instructions and screenshots.

Display Names

To change the name that displays for each of your account in SCU Online, click on “Account Preferences” in the “Settings” tab in the main navigation.  Then, type the name you want for your accounts in the field below each account you would like to change.  Click ‘Submit’ when finished.  Click here for detailed instructions and screenshots.

Secure Access Code Information

Q. What is a Secure Access Code?

A secure access code is a number that will be sent to you by a method other than online banking to ensure that we are connecting to the correct person.  This is an added layer of security to protect your account information.

Secure Access Code Delivery

  • Secure Access Codes can be received via phone call, text message, or email.
  • Secure Access Codes are never left on voice mail.
  • Unused Secure Access Codes expire after 20 minutes.
  • Used Secure Access Codes immediately expire and cannot be reused.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The secure access code you receive to login to SCU Online is a multi-factor authentication measure that protects your financial information.

The following scenarios will require the need for a secure access code every time you log into the new SCU Online:

  • If your browser is set to not accept cookies.
  • If your browser is set to automatically delete cookies each time you close your browser.

If you log in using a different browser or computer that has not been registered, you will be prompted to use a secure access code to log in.

If you do not want to use a secure access code each time you log into SCU Online, your browser needs to be set to accept and store cookies on your PC.

Q. When I sign in, I don’t have any phone or email address that I can use to get a secure access code delivered. What do I do?

Please contact Scott Credit Union’s Member Service Center at 800-888-4728 or 618-345-1000 to provide the missing information and receive help logging on.

Q. I have set up a new password and registered my browser. I have selected “activate this computer for later use”, but each time I log in, it makes me go through the browser registration process (where I have to get a secure access code). Why?

The most likely explanations for being required to register your browser multiple times are:

  •  Your browser is not set to store cookies from the SCU Online server.
  • Cookies are automatically deleted each time you close your browser.
  • You are logging on from separate browsers or separate computers.

Challenge Code - If your browser is set to delete cookies and browsing history, you have the option to enter a challenge code instead of a Secure Access Code. To set up the challenge code option, click on “Security Preferences” which is found under the “Settings” option in the SCU Online navigation menu. Once on the Security Preference page simply click “Challenge Code,” enter a challenge code of your choice and click on Submit. The next time you are prompted for a secure access code, you will be able to choose the option “I want to log in using my challenge code." You will then go to the page to enter your challenge code.

Important: When you login using a challenge code, the tabs for Secure Delivery, Challenge Code, and Alerts on the “Security” page will no longer appear. This is another security feature of the system. If you need to make changes through any of these tabs, you will need to log in using a secure access code if your computer is not registered.

Browser Requirements

Q. Can I use SCU Online with older versions of Internet Explorer?

If you are logging into SCU Online using Internet Explorer version 9 or older, your account access may be unavailable at this time.

To access your accounts via SCU Online, please login using a browser other than Internet Explorer such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Or, upgrade your browser to Internet Explorer 10 or newer.  Please note: the first time you access your accounts using a different browser, you will need to register your computer again.  You will need to get a secure access code and click the button to register the computer for later use.  Also, remember that you can access your accounts via SCU Mobile Banking.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Q. What browsers are recommended for using SCU Online?

At Scott Credit Union, one of our top priorities is to protect your money and your personal financial information. One way you can help is by keeping your browser up-to-date.

Browsers on Microsoft Windows Operating Systems

Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 or higher

Google Chrome version 30 or higher

Mozilla Firefox version 24 or higher

Apple Safari is no longer supported on Windows, as Apple has discontinued development of security patches for Windows.

Browsers on Apple Macintosh Operating Systems

Apple Safari version 6 or higher

Google Chrome version 27 or higher

Mozilla Firefox version 24 or higher

Q. Why am I getting an out of date browser message with Internet Explorer 11?

When using SCU Online Banking with IE 11, compatibility mode needs to be turned off.  To turn off compatibility mode please follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Tools menu in the upper right corner (or press ALT + x)
  2. Click on Compatibility View Settings.
  3. In the resulting window, click on the website you want to remove. In this case "onlineaccess1.com". Click Remove, then Close.
  4. The website will refresh but you may need to go back to scu.org and enter your username again and in some cases you may need to close and restart your browser for the changes to take effect.

Security

Q. What is Multi-Factor Authentication and why do I need it?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an added layer of security to protect your account information.  The company we have partnered with for SCU Online has implemented the secure access code as their means of MFA.

Using a secure access code for MFA complies with the rules set by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC).  Along with other financial institutions, Scott Credit Union is restricted by the rules of the FFIEC.

Used Secure Access Codes immediately expire and cannot be reused.

Important: When you log in using a challenge code, the tabs for Secure Delivery, Challenge Code, and Alerts on the “Security” page will no longer appear. This is another security feature of the system. If you need to make changes through any of these tabs, you will need to log in using a secure access code if your computer is not registered.

Click here for detailed instructions and screen shots.

Q. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file placed on your hard drive that permits a website to store information about your visit. Most cookies are harmless, particularly when received from websites such as your SCU Online account. In this case, the cookie that is stored on your PC during login allows you to bypass the secure access code whenever you access online banking in the future. The secure cookie will periodically expire or be erased on your computer and will need to be re-established on your computer again.

Q. Your “forgot password” system doesn’t seem to work!

“Forgot Password” can only be used if your online banking account is not locked out. Entering an incorrect password three (3) times in a row locks you out of the system. This is a security measure to prevent unauthorized access to your account. If you think you have forgotten your password, do not keep trying to log on.  Instead, click the “Forgot Password” option to begin the procedure of logging into your account.

Q. Why did I stop receiving security text alerts?

If you change cell phone carriers, you will need to text START to 86434 to continue receiving security alerts. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Transactions

Q. Where can I view my pending transactions that haven’t posted to my account yet?

If an account has pending transactions, they will now be indicated by red “Transactions Pending” text next to the account listed. To review the pending transactions, click on the “Transactions Pending” next to the account and view the pending transactions.

Note: If there are no pending transactions on an account, you will not see the red text next to the account.

Q. How do I transfer money?

One-Time Transfers

Transfer money fast using the Quick Action Menu in top right corner of the new SCU Online home page. Simply click “Transfer Money Now,” enter the required information, and click “Transfer Funds.”  This method allows you to transfer money quickly and easily, in one step.  No further action is required for the transfer to process. Click here for detailed instructions and screenshots.

Recurring Transfers

To schedule a recurring transfer, simply check the “Make this a recurring transaction” in the Funds Transfer screen and then choose how often the transfer should be repeated.  Click here for detailed instructions and screenshots.

Miscellaneous

Q. I have a Mortgage with SCU. Can I access that information within the new SCU Online?

Yes. Your mortgage information will now be located in the Account Overview list with the rest of your accounts.

Q. I have a Credit Card with SCU. Can I access that information within the new SCU Online?

With the new SCU Online, you can view your Credit Card information without logging into a separate website.  Simply click “Credit Card” in the “Services” tab in the navigation menu on the left side of the new SCU Online home page.

Q. When I try to view my Credit Card information, I am sent back to the Account Overview screen. Why can't I view Credit Card information?

When you click to view your Credit Card information, your browser will open a new window to display the Credit Card information.  If your browser is set to block pop-up windows, you may need to enable pop-up windows to see your Credit Card information.

Q. With Quicken, what is the difference between Web Connect and Express Web Connect?

Web Connect (WC) users log in to SCU Online, download data, and then upload data to Quicken.  This is the recommended method.

Express Web Connect (EWC) users enter their SCU Online username and password within Quicken, and then Quicken logs in to SCU Online on the user’s behalf.  This method is not supported by SCU Online and therefore, not recommended.

Q. How do I search my account history?

The Search tool is available on the Account Details screen for each of your accounts. It allows you to search transaction history by most recent transactions, a single check, a range of checks, a single date, a range of dates, an amount, or even the transaction description.  Click here for detailed instructions and screenshots.

To set up a security alert, click “Alerts” in the “Settings” tab in the main navigation on the left side of your home page.  Then, click on “Edit Delivery Preferences” to set how you would like security alerts delivered. Note: For your protection, you will always be alerted when your login ID or password is changed.

To set up a transaction based alert, click eAlerts in the “Services” tab in the main navigation to the left side of your SCU Online home page.  Choose the desired account from the dropdown menu and click Submit. If this is the first time you have used eAlerts, you will need to accept the eAlerts disclosure and configure the Default eAlert Settings. After clicking Add Alerts, choose the type of transaction for which you would like to receive an alert and click Continue.  Complete the required fields and click Continue when finished.  Click here for detailed instructions and screenshots.

eStatements reduce the time spent waiting for your statement from us to arrive in the mail. Plus, they reduce the amount of paper we use to print statements. Your online statements will include your current statement and a history of statements if you ever need them.

Your online statement is simply an electronic version of the mailed statements you received in the past. They look just like the paper statements, but you view them online and can zoom-in, zoom-out, search, save, and print them. Your eStatements are displayed in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Simply click on eStatements under Services in the SCU Online navigation menu after you have logged in.  As always, we welcome you to email us at [email protected] or call 800-888-4728 or 618-345-1000 if you have questions.
